Chris Cooper in "August: Osage County?"

Thank you again, Regina, from FYC Meryl Streep for always having the skinny on the latest Meryl news.    A forum entitled "TheTracking Board" for inside Hollywood information has apparently revealed that Chris Cooper has been added to the cast of August: Osage County.  I would know more details were it not for the fact that access to this board costs close to $300.  Yeah, not happening.   However, I of course googled Chris Cooper and found this blurb that corroborated his involvement.  This is big news, considering they've been so slow to reveal an entire cast.  I suppose it's possible that it's yet to be finalized.

If this speculation turns out to be true, I'll be very pleased.  Cooper is an excellent actor.  We all remember his Academy Award-winning performance in 2002's Adaptation alongside Meryl.  I've always loved his comments about her during his acceptance speech.  In August, I think it's more realistic to assume that he'll play big Charlie and not Beverly.  We'll have to wait and see.   I'll be very interested to find out 1) if this news is indeed true, and 2) who will round out the rest of the cast.  This play is very character-centric, with the female roles being the bulk of the drama.   Cooper would be a fantastic adjunct to and already great cast.

  1. I know you don't want to get your hopes up too high, but this is going to be a great film! I'd love to see the play again just to refresh my memory.
