Well, Production List is now reporting that the Devil Wears Prada sequel is set for filming in February, 2025. A three-month shoot is expected, with an aim for a late 2026 release.
I have to say that this timeline makes more sense. The November 30 date that I have previously posted might actually be a date they plan to start shooting some B roll, wide shots or exterior shots that don't necessarily involve the main cast. Or, it could just be that this most recent post is the more accurate one and filming was set to begin in February all along. Also makes sense that they'd want to release in 2026 so as to have the nice little bow of a "20th anniversary" sequel.
If this indeed wraps in May, and if The Corrections ends up actually happening, I expect that the latter will film next fall with another 2026 release. That would be potentially very big year for Meryl!
Unrelated, I came across a video yesterday where renown Indian actress Kareena Kapoor Khan stated in response to a question about possibly going more global that she's "a huge fan of Meryl Streep. I would just love to stand in the frame with her." I was not aware of this actress at all, but I couldn't help but see that she's the right age to portray the lead character in State of Wonder. If the woman can do an American accent, she may have just tossed something special out into the universe.
I refuse to get my hopes up for DWP2 until I see set photos or other castings for it...seems from Tucci's caginess that maybe deals aren't done. Same with The Corrections until it has a network -- been there done that with The Nix :(
ReplyDeleteTotally valid. How dumb would it be if the The Corrections didn't happen...AGAIN?
DeleteThe actors haven't actually been confirmed yet that's why he answered the way he did, doesn't mean it won't happen
DeleteRegarding the Prada sequel, Emily Blunt has been asked about it before and her answer suggests that a sequel is in the works.

ReplyDeleteMeryl may do omitb s5, the producer has mentioned Meryl's return to s5 . It's not good for a movie actress like Meryl to be tied to some TV show like that, and she's not doing the lead role, it's a waste of her. Meryl probably starred in the show again and again because of her relationship with Martin
Only Murders is a wonderful acclaimed show and so many film actors are doing TV so suggesting it is below her to do the show is ridiculous at this point. She can do the show at the same time as a film because she doesn't have to be in every episode.
DeleteYeah this doesn't seem like a particularly insightful post. From what I read, the writing of having Loretta's character move to New Zealand partly provided for the "pragmatic" scenario of giving Streep and out if her scheduled didn't allow for her return to season 5. I took that to mean she's got stuff coming up (namely TDWP2 this winter) and she'll likely not be in the next season much. Same with season 4. She was in three episodes and I imagine her time spent on set was brief.
DeleteWe know Meryl did the show because she wanted to do something fun and light-hearted. She has said this in interviews. I'll echo what the second poster said, in that TV is not a second-rate platform any longer. The top starts do the best work they can find, and that's often on television now. Still, Streep likely has a big film with TDWP2 coming up which will get a ton of media attention, and then (assuming it comes to fruition), a limited series adaptation of a critically acclaimed novel that will likely attract the best actors alive. I don't think she need to worry about her status as an A-lister, box-office draw, or sought-after collaborator, if that's what you're insinuating.
I mostly think Meryl has been so boring & wasteful as an addition to omitb 。The limited series The Corrections I was looking forward to.
DeleteAlso, I hope her private life won't be linked to her screen image. Of course, this is just my opinion as a fan who likes to watch her works,I am very happy that she can be happy.
