"Useful Idiots" a no-go

In an interview with Spanish-language newspaper, El País, late last month, Sigourney Weaver was specifically asked about Useful Idiots and whether or not she was indeed going to make the film with Meryl. Her response:

Unfortunately, it's not going to happen. But hopefully we'll have another chance. 

I take that to mean that specifically, Useful Idiots is not going to happen (at least not with the two of them), but that she hopes she'll have another/different chance to work with Meryl. 

At least we know now. The movie, set to be directed by Joseph Cedar, was apparently set for filming this past winter. That time came and went without anything happening. Hard to know why for sure. This is not a new situation with Meryl (or any actor, for that matter). Projects are announced, directors are attached, maybe even a co-star or two are mentioned as being "in-talks" or are actually signed. And then nothing. Knowing that it was rumored to film in Canada starting in March, and that Martin Short's daughter passed away in February, maybe Meryl simply dropped out to be able to spend time with him. That seems reasonable and plausible. Maybe the financing just never fully got together, but for some reason I kind of doubt that, knowing the way Weaver had been quoted last fall about them doing the movie in early 2026. 

Oh well. I'm optimistic about The Corrections getting underway in the fall. It'll be exciting to get some casting news hopefully soon. No idea on whether or not the Joni Mitchell biopic will move forward. In theory, I imagine Meryl could squeeze that in from August through October, but I feel we would've heard more of that by now. Cameron Crowe had been quoted last fall that he planned to film it in 2026. As I often say, time will tell. That project I think would still be viable if they waited until 2027 to film. 

"The Corrections" reportedly set to film in November

"What's on Netflix" is reporting that The Corrections is set to film in November.  Not a lot of new info, but the report came from Production Weekly, which included a detailed synopsis: 

 After almost 50 years as a wife and mother, Enid Lambert (Streep) is ready to have some fun. Unfortunately, her husband, Alfred, is losing his sanity to Parkinson’s disease, and their children have long since flown the family nest to the catastrophes of their own lives. The oldest, Gary, a once-stable portfolio manager and family man, is trying to convince his wife and himself, despite clear signs to the contrary, that he is not clinically depressed. The middle child, Chip, has lost his seemingly secure academic job and is failing spectacularly at his new line of work. And Denise, the youngest, has escaped a disastrous marriage only to pour her youth and beauty down the drain on an affair with a married man – or so her mother fears. Desperate for some pleasure to look forward to. Enid has set her heart on an elusive goal: bringing her family together for one last Christmas at home. Stretching from the Midwest at midcentury to the Wall Street and Eastern Europe of today, The Corrections brings an old-fashioned world of civic virtue and sexual inhibitions into violent collision with the era of home surveillance, hands-off parenting, do-it-yourself mental health care, and globalized greed.

If this news is true (not a lot of reason to expect it's not), great to see that it's moving forward!  And of course very interested to learn of casting news sooner than later. Curious to see if Meryl somehow squeezes in the Joni Mitchell biopic before.  I'm guessing not.  

Netflix picks up "The Corrections"

I am actually kind of shocked to see this news today. Of all the projects in the pipeline for Meryl (The Corrections, Useful Idiots, the Joni Mitchell biopic, Mamma Mia! 3), I would've guessed that The Corrections was the most likely to have fallen by the wayside. We have heard zero about it since it was first announced with Meryl being attached way back in September of 2024. Until today. 

Netflix has announced that they have picked up the series, with Cord Jefferson (director and writer of American Fiction, which won him an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay) attached to direct all episodes. As previously announced, author Jonathan Franzen is penning the script based on his 2001 best-selling novel. Streep is listed as one of the executive producers, which is unusual for her. With the announcement of a streamer being attached, as well as a director, this is about as close as it gets to being a sure thing until we actually see pics of her on set. 

It's interesting that Netflix is making a concerted push to produce "prestige projects." Their new VP, Nora Skinner (who came over from HBO in 2024), has apparently been deliberately focusing on this type of project acquisition for the streamer. The next thing to watch for is casting updates! 

If I were to guess, I would think filming for this would be late fall or early 2027, as much of the story takes place around the Christmas holidays.

Streep and Hathaway begin worldwide press tour for "The Devil Wears Prada 2"

It was perhaps a bit dumb of me to think that Meryl wasn't going to do like weeks and weeks of promotion for the upcoming Devil Wears Prada sequel. I had in my mind that she'd do some press junkets and a handful of talk shows in the U.S. in the week or two leading up to its May 1 wide release. As if this isn't like one of the biggest (if not the biggest) movie events of the year. How wrong I was. 

Meryl and her co-star Anne Hathway began what is going to be a month-long whirlwind of press and premieres in Mexico City yesterday. They follow that with Seoul, Shanghai, New York and London. I don't know if Meryl's ever done that global of a campaign before. I know she was in Japan for Mamma Mia!, but she's also never quite been in a position where is quite this much anticipation for a film, due to the original's iconic status in popular culture at this point. Already people are talking about the fashion and how great Meryl looks. I have to agree, particularly as a healthcare provider who works daily with patients over 75. It's remarkable to me how good Meryl's posture is, how youthful her gait pattern is, and how adeptly she seems to be able to navigate wearing heels. That's pretty rare for someone who turns 77 in two months. 

Of course, with the month of April likely filled with responsibilities for the promotion of Prada, Useful Idiots never got underway. I'm getting pretty pessimistic about at this point. Sigourney Weaver, who was cast alongside Meryl had been quoted as saying they were making it in the beginning of 2026. That window has passed. I suppose they could commence filming in May after Streep is done with the Prada tour. Things could get tight if the Joni Mitchell biopic comes to fruition and Cameron Crowe wants to film this year as well. But I could see that starting late summer or early fall. And then there's also Big Little Lies season 3, which could start anywhere from this fall to early 2027 (and while it seems to me that 2027 might be more likely I have to admit my prediction have been poor as of late so it's anyone's guess at this point). The Corrections is probably dead at this point, but again, who knows? What a wonderful problem to have when there are all these announced projects and we're wondering when Meryl might be able to fit them in! I just would really like her to star in a couple of new/original projects soon, which is why I'm pining for Idiots/Joni/Corrections.

Streep likely to feature in season 3 of "Big Little Lies"

Author Liane Moriarty's follow-up novel to Big Little Lies, entitled Big Little Truths, is scheduled for publication this August. In a new article from Variety, we learn more details of the plot of the novel, which is to serve as the template for the upcoming third season of the HBO show. It was announced last fall that a third season was greenlit, and that the story would jump ahead ten years. All the kids will be in high school now, with a new set of problems for themselves and, of course, their doting parents. 

In the article, a partial synopsis of the story specifically includes Meryl's character from season 2, that of Mary Louise, the mother of Alexander Skarsgård's character, who of course was killed at the end of season 1 (spoiler, but seriously how have you not already seen this show?):

Celeste’s mother-in-law, Mary Louise, is behaving oddly — is it old-age forgetfulness and forthrightness, or something more sinister?

So we know that Mary Louise is in the book, and therefore highly likely to be included in the script. I have a feeling that Moriarty, considering she wrote the character of Mary Louise specifically for Meryl (who's real first name is Mary Louise as we all know), wouldn't have included Mary Louise in the new book if it hadn't already been worked out that Meryl would be willing to reprise the role in a third and (likely) final season. 

If they want this to actually be released exactly ten years prior to the first season, it will have to be ready by the end of 2027. That suggests that filming likely needs to get underway by the end of this year, maybe early 2027. It's a nice problem these days to have Meryl's name mentioned in so many possible upcoming projects. I'm not a huge fan that four of them are sort of repeats (Prada 2, Big Little Lies, a potentially third installment of Mamma Mia!, and yet another tedious season of Only Murders in the Building). Which is why I'm so interested in whether or not original projects like Useful Idiots (possibly filming this month??), the Joni Mitchell biopic, and The Corrections will get off the ground. The Gisèle Pelicot role might be a far-fetched rumor, but holy cow would that be a character to unpack.  

I'm just glad there's some reasonable likelihood that we'll see Meryl on screen over the next two years. Hopefully a couple of them will carry with them a bit more meat than a simple rehashing of well-known characters. I suspect Mery may be hungry for that. 

P.S. People who read this blog probably notice that I generally don't care too much about Meryl's voice projects. And it has perhaps been remiss of me to not post anything about the success of the animated film Hoppers. It's got a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, 73 on Metacritic, and has already made $177 millinon in just two weeks in the theaters. There was also a recent article in which Emma Mackey, who's starring in Greta Gerwig's upcoming Narnia film (Narnia: The Magician's Nephew), gives an interview for an Italian magazine and suggests that Meryl is indeed involved in the project. All reports have only ever suggested that her role would be voicing the lion Aslan. There was buzz that after delays that it was possible that Streep wasn't necessarily attached anymore. I honestly didn't pay that close of attention to it, as I couldn't have really cared less whether or not Meryl participated. But this seems to suggest pretty strongly that she is indeed involved. The Narnia film is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 26 of this year, after which it will be released on Netflix on Christmas Day. 

Looking ahead in 2026

Happy New Year, everyone! I thought I'd pause my watching of Heated Rivalry on a loop for a few minutes to prognosticate a bit on what we might expect to see from Meryl in 2026. 

Let's do a brief recap. The only real thing we've seen from her in four years is a supporting role on Hulu's Only Murders in the Building. She did Emmy and Globe nominations for the first season of it she was in (and won a Critics' Choice Award), but other than that, it has been pretty barren for us Streepers. That all changed last summer when she began shooting The Devil Wears Prada 2. The release date is May 1, so even if nothing else happens with other projects, we have that to look forward to exactly four months from today. 

But I want the other projects too! This fall it was announced that she would star alongside Sigourney Weaver in Joseph Cedar's Useful Idiots. Signs were pointing to an early 2026 shooting schedule, but we haven't had any updates since November. The role is a lead one and the film itself sounds interesting, so I really hope that comes together. Rumors have swirled for a while about Meryl portraying an older version of Joni Mitchell in a biopic directed by Cameron Crowe. Without confirming any casting, Crowe confirmed that he was expecting to begin shooting that film sometime in 2026. Meryl's name has been removed from the IMDb page for Greta Gerwig's Narnia film. I don't even think Meryl was officially confirmed for that anyway. And there's always The Corrections, which we've heard nothing about since it was announced as being optioned for (another try at) a limited series way back in September of 2024. 

I could see this year being as straightforward as Meryl filming a couple of episodes of Only Murders and then doing a bunch of press for Prada in the spring, to her doing all of the above projects within a ten-month period. If Useful Idiots gets off the ground, I feel like it wouldn't be a super long shoot. Same with the Mitchell biopic. If the Corrections happened, I would imagine that filming late fall or winter, considering it's meant to take place leading up to Christmastime. I hope all these projects happen. 

A key factor could be the box office success of Prada 2. If that movie does super well in theaters, which it definitely has the potential to do, that could open a lot of pockets for funding/greenlighting projects for Meryl. It might, for example, get a streaming service to sign on to The Corrections. And just like it did after the first Prada twenty years ago, where Meryl was "besieged with offers," to a likely somewhat lesser degree, Meryl might find herself with a bounty of opportunities, should she choose to say yes to them. This is what I really hope happens. 

No matter what additional projects she joins in the near or far future, we'll get to revisit an iconic character this spring. And if the movie is good enough, there's a narrative for Meryl to break he own record and score a 22nd Oscar nomination for reprising Miranda Priestly. 

Episode 8 of "Only Murders in the Building"--season 5

Meryl's character of Loretta returned for episode 8 of Hulu's Only Murders in the Building last night. It was interesting in that the majority of the episode centered on Loretta, Mabel (Selena Gomez), Williams (Da'Vine Joy Randolph), Lorraine (Dianne Wiest) and Camila (Renée Zellweger). They have a sort of ladies night in the casino in the basement of the Arconia, with Loretta, Mable, Williams and Lorraine intent on getting a confession out of Camila for killing Lester. 

Loretta pretends to be a psychic (with an Eastern European/Russian accent I think) in an attempt to get some information from Camila. I have to admit I'm sort of blind to a lot of the details of the plot of this show at this point because I find them so insane and uninteresting, but it was definitely fun to see Meryl onscreen again with Zellweger, after their pairing in 1998's gem One True Thing (which I just watched this past weekend because it reminds me a lot of this time of year). 

Two episodes left of this series season. I suppose Loretta will show up in at least one more before she "heads back" to New Zealand (yawn).  

Here's hoping the rumors of Useful Idiots, the Joni Mithcell biopic and/or The Corrections actually come to fruition so that Meryl can be delivered of this material. Sorry to be negative, guys. I'm sure she's had/having a blast filming Murders, but it is exceedingly tedious at this point. Looking forward to more interesting things for her. 

Streep and Weaver rumored for "The Useful Idiots"

Let's take this with a rather large grain of salt again considering the source, but World of Reel is reporting today that Meryl and Sigourney Weaver are circling a project at Amazon entitled Useful Idiots. Thelma & Louise writer Callie Khouri wrote the screenplay and it apparently already has a director attached, Joseph Cedar. Cedar is known for his films Footmate and Norman, among others. 

I did a little sleuthing and there are reports as far back as 2020 of Khouri having written The Useful Idiots (the "The" is in most of the articles I've seen other the the World of Reel one) as a series. The World of Reel article seemed to intimate that this would be a feature film, but who knows. 

While Jordan Ruimy doesn't have the greatest of reputations among discerning readers whom I've followed, the fact that this is/was a legit project form Khouri and has a director already named/attached, along with a specific co-star, makes me feel that it wasn't conjured from thin air. Ruimy suggests that filming is set to start in January. If that were to happen, it doesn't seem like The Corrections would get underway before that time. Speaking of the latter project, I really want it to happen. It would be so dumb for it to essentially go through development hell three times only to never see the light of day as a screen production. But they may be taking a while to complete the script. 

As far as The Useful Idiots, there is no mention in any source I can find of what it might be about. A "useful idiot" is, by definition "a pejorative description of a person, suggesting that the person thinks they are fighting for a cause without fully comprehending the consequences of their actions, and who does not realize they are being manipulated by the cause's leaders or by other political players." Seems likely to have a political bent to it, which is not surprising considering the times we live in and, of course, Meryl's interests. 

After a year and a half of hand-wringing, if every rumored or announced project comes to fruition in the next couple of years, we could have:

Narnia (voice)

Joni Mitchell biopic

The Corrections

Mamma Mia! 3

"The Devil Wears Prada 2" officially in production, Kenneth Branagh joins cast

Multiple sources are reporting that The Devil Wears Prada 2 has officially begun production. 20th Century Studios posted a teaser on their Instagram page:

Stanely Tucci, Emily Blunt, and Anne Hathaway have all been confirmed to return (along with Meryl of course). An interesting addition was announced, with Kenneth Branagh joining the cast as Miranda's husband. I imagine the role will be larger than that of her husband in the first movie. Not sure why Branagh would bother otherwise. Other than maybe a chance to work with Meryl. And great that Meryl gets the chance to work with him! 

Details of the plot are still mostly under wraps, but the general consensus is that Blunt's character is now an executive for a luxury group whose ad dollars Miranda desperately needs. With production underway, it seems reasonable that they'll wrap sometime in September. I wonder if The Corrections would possibly film then later this fall. It takes place mostly in the weeks leading up to Christmas, so that timing seems reasonable. I would really love to see that project come to fruition. Regardless, we'll get to see Meryl on the big screen again in less than a year!

Happy 76th, Meryl!

Our girl turns 76 today. I feel more optimistic about how much we're going to see her on screen in the near future than I was last year at this time. I don't think anyone would fault her (or anyone) for deciding to hang things up. But I think acting is different than digging ditches or treating patients in a clinic. It's a different kind of work that, particularly for Meryl, is perhaps more necessary for personal wellness and gratification than it is for some sense of being useful. And we all benefit from it.

The Devil Wears Prada sequel is set to start filming next month, the fifth season of Only Murders in the Building is likely going to be released at the end of the summer, she's voicing Narnia soon, and there's still the possibility that the limited series version of The Corrections will get underway later this year. This last one is the project I'd most want her to complete. The point is that she's still kickin' when it comes to acting on screen, and that's all I care about. 

Not that I wouldn't mind having another new and exciting project announced in the next few months. As long as the get made! Positive reception and/or solid box office for her upcoming projects can only help in making things actually happen. I'm looking forward to the next year.

Happy New Year, Streepers! I hope this post finds you all happy and healthy and ready for a year of good things for Meryl. 

I can't lie, I've been fiending for some Meryl project news as of late. We've been getting teased about a Devil Wears Prada sequel since this summer. Things seemed so legit for a while, but now I'm wondering if it's going to happen at all. The thing that calms my brain a bit is that it would be a tidy release timeline to have it released in theaters in 2026 for a 20th anniversary marketing approach. That reasonably gives us until the fall for a plausible filming timeline. I'm still cautiously optimistic that it'll happen. If it does, and it ends up being released as expected in '26, that'll make it five years between theatrical releases for Meryl, since 2021's Don't Look Up (which itself only had a tiny film release to qualify for awards as it was a Netflix film). 

I think the biggest reason I want Prada to happen is because, if it's a big hit, it may open doors for projects to get greenlit for Meryl. It's no secret that people aren't exactly throwing money at producers to make movies or shows focused on women over 70. Not that said projects don't exist, and it's certainly a better climate for seasoned actresses than it was even twenty years ago, but they're much much harder to come by than for actors under 40. While Meryl can easily play women ten years younger than she is, at 75, the options are slim. 

With all this in mind, I'm really looking forward to hopefully hearing some casting news for The Corrections. I can see filming for this project getting underway this fall with another 2026 release. Alas, there has been zero news of this project since it was originally announced on September 27.  Maybe within the next six months we'll get more news about what Meryl might realistically do in 2026. Was the book she mentioned having optioned while interviewed in Cannes State of Wonder? Was it something completely different, or even something that she doesn't expect to star in? Or maybe a memoir for what could turn into an epic biopic? Only time will tell. And while the anticipation can be part of the fun, I don't think I'm alone in feeling like I need some more concrete confirmation of something solid we'll get to see her in soon. 

I would love nothing more than if we were to get a period of about four or five years in a row where Meryl really wows us. That would bring her to around 80 years old, where one's very life (much less career) is far from predictable. Keep the faith, folks. I don't think she's done. 

Streep "snubbed" at Golden Globes

I used quotation marks for "snubbed" because I don't really consider her missing out on a Golden Globe nomination this morning to be that big of a deal.  Only Murders in the Building received four nominations (Best Comedy Series and for its three leads Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez), and some thought Meryl would receive another nod for her supporting role in the series. 

I, for one, wasn't surprised in the least. In fact, it didn't even occur to me that she would be in the running. While the Emmys have rules about screen time or number of episodes/percentage of episodes to designate acting categorizations, I don't think the Golden Globes has such rules. Meryl's role in season four was rather minor, and she didn't have much of a character arc. I don't rule out the possibility of a guest actor Emmy nod, but no sane person should really have been thinking she was likely to get recognized for this latest season.

Still hoping that we get some more confirmation on when filming is set to get underway for The Devil Wears Prada 2. And I'm even more interested to get some (any) casting news for The Corrections. Alas, silence. 

Episode 10 of "Only Murders in the Building"--season 4

That's a wrap on season 4 of Only Murders in the Building. Meryl had screen time for the third time during the season, as she (Loretta) and Oliver got hitched. But not before she's heading off to New Zealand for continuation of her TV show's filming. The show has already been renewed for season 5. 

There was an article yesterday from show runner and co-creator John Hoffman, in which he was asked whether having Loretta head off to New Zealand was a deliberate way to buy themselves times to accommodate Meryl's schedule for season 5. His reply:

It’s partly pragmatic in that way, sure. But really it’s about what the trio has built together, and what Oliver and Loretta have built together. That is a little wink to Hollywood at the moment when she’s saying how, suddenly, the budget [on her show] is requiring [they shoot in] New Zealand. That was one part of it. But then it feels to me like a beautifully adult decision that she comes to, saying, “We don’t have to do this in any way traditionally… we never have… we shouldn’t.” There was a slightly longer speech there talking about “we can long for other, and pine for each other, and then when we’re together, it’s that much more magical. That’s all I want is to keep that.” So, we’ll see how it goes. Nothing would make me happier than more Meryl Streep in the show.

What this means to me, is that they want the option to have Meryl in the next season, and if she's willing, it'll likely be brief and sporadic (kind of like this past season). Especially with Meryl (hopefully) having a couple projects due for filming next year (The Devil Wears Prada 2 in the first half of the year and possibly The Corrections in the second half of the year). I don't imagine there's any plan to have Meryl be some major character moving forward. I'd personally be fine if the show wrapped up after the next season. Five seems solid. I'm happy to have seen Meryl do something in the past two years, but it seems more likely that she's moving on to some projects that will require a greater amount of her professional time. Doesn't mean she can't swing by and spend a few days on the Only Murders set if they have scenes they feel they want or need Loretta in.

Update on filming dates for "The Devil Wears Prada 2"

Well, Production List is now reporting that the Devil Wears Prada sequel is set for filming in February, 2025. A three-month shoot is expected, with an aim for a late 2026 release. 

I have to say that this timeline makes more sense. The November 30 date that I have previously posted might actually be a date they plan to start shooting some B roll, wide shots or exterior shots that don't necessarily involve the main cast. Or, it could just be that this most recent post is the more accurate one and filming was set to begin in February all along. Also makes sense that they'd want to release in 2026 so as to have the nice little bow of a "20th anniversary" sequel. 

If this indeed wraps in May, and if The Corrections ends up actually happening, I expect that the latter will film next fall with another 2026 release. That would be potentially very big year for Meryl! 

Unrelated, I came across a video yesterday where renown Indian actress Kareena Kapoor Khan stated in response to a question about possibly going more global that she's "a huge fan of Meryl Streep. I would just love to stand in the frame with her." I was not aware of this actress at all, but I couldn't help but see that she's the right age to portray the lead character in State of Wonder. If the woman can do an American accent, she may have just tossed something special out into the universe. 

"The Devil Wears Prada" sequel set to begin filming next month

Production List is reporting that the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is scheduled to begin filming on November 30. This was an unexpected piece of news. With news of the project being in development only having coming out in early July, I figured the earliest we'd see it in production would be sometime next year. I guess the script was more fine-tuned than many of us probably thought it was. 

Assuming this is all true, we'll most certainly see this released sometime in the second half of next year. I had thought it would be kind of cool to have the two sequels released exactly twenty years apart, but if released next year, it'll be only nineteen. I suppose the timeline makes a little more sense coming off the recent news of Meryl starring in the TV adaptation of The Corrections. That might take up a fair amount of her time, and the filming of Prada this year would make for a more open schedule in '25. I do hope that The Devil Wears Prada 2 is only a working title. 

One thing that I'm a little curious about is the possibility of Meryl's involvement in the Joni Mitchell biopic. It was "rumored" in July also, with no confirmation from reputable sources. However, I recently checked and the official Joni Mitchell website included the post! I don't know if that actually means anything. Whoever is running that site might not actually be all that discerning about what's going on with a potential feature film about the singer's life. Regardless, that fact that it was on the site made me furrow my brow a bit in suspicion. In the original article, the rumored filming schedule was supposed to start sometime late summer or early fall. That would have to start essentially now for that to be true. I suppose it could still happen, but even if it does, Meryl would only be playing the older version of Joni, so it wouldn't be like she would have months of shooting to contend with. 

It's wild how all of a sudden with the Prada sequel, The Corrections, and possible involvement in Mamma Mia! 3 and a Joni Mitchell biopic (although I'm dubious about this last one), Meryl seems super busy with projects. The landscape seemed pretty barren only a  few weeks ago.

Holy shit. I first saw this news early this morning from from Puck (run by Matt Belloni, former editor of The Hollywood Reporter and likely totally legit), and I was a little leery that no other news outlets were announcing it. Variety has now picked up on it and is also reporting that Streep is attached to star in a limited series adaptation of Jonathan Franzen's 2001 National Book Award-winning novel, The Corrections for CBS studios. Franzen is apparently penning the script for the series. 

I had posted twelve years ago after a pilot for the novel adaptation with Dianne Wiest and Chris Cooper was not picked up by HBO for series that I though Meryl should star in a film version. I loved the novel and it is a brilliant story of a complicated American family. The book is long and totally makes the most sense to adapt it over the course of four to six hours versus a feature film. Meryl would paly Enid, the mother of three grown children who wants their Midwestern family to get together for one last Christmas. 

Evidently the project is going to be shopped to distributors/streaming services soon. I imagine it won't start filming until sometime next year, with a likely release of 2026? If the Devil Wears Prada sequel happens I would expect that to also be for 2026. Maybe they're closer to production for The Corrections than we realize, and an early 2025 shooting schedule could result in a late 2025 release. Regardless, if this turns out to be legit and eventually happens, it's exactly the time of limited series I would love to see Meryl do! An adaptation with original characters in a beloved American tale. 

So excited to see where this leads!
