Results of Poll #12

It's been three weeks since I posted the poll asking which nominations folks thought Don't Look Up might snag at the Oscars. Well, things have changed a bit since that post...namely, the film was seen by a lot of people. Were I to create the same poll now, I expect the results would be much different. At the time, most people (myself included) thought Meryl stood a decent chance at a nomination for Actress in a Supporting Role. That just happened to be the number-one selection in the poll at 14%. After the film's tepid reviews, I think her chances are extremely thin. But after the Golden Globe and Critics Choice nominations, it's not wild to think the film itself, Leonardo DiCaprio, and original song might crack their respective categories. Full results are as below:

  1. Unfortunately, this will not be a nomination year, and neither will next year as there is no film on the books. I think she will be back within the decade to take a run at her fourth.

It has been since Little Women that I have been able to see a Meryl film in theatres, I so look forward to that again someday if she ever does something off streaming!

Here's to a 2022 where we get something juicy I hope (at least an announcement).

    1. Maybe we'll get pleasantly surprised that Meryl will film Places Please in early 2022, it gets released later next year, and is in contention for awards.

    2. That would be great! I am worried they haven't be able to get financing. At this point I would be happy to see it land at HBO or Showtime as a TV movie!

  2. I share your hopes "Places, Please" will be filmed early next year and we can see it this time next year. Will be something to look forward to.

Best wishes to you and your family Jeff, and to my fellow posters here, Happy Christmas!

    2. I so miss Meryl nabbing Oscar noms. She is so due for a heavy lead drama Thad puts her in contention for #4.
