Is "The Post" now "Nor'easter"?

So, the website My Entertainment World is listing The Post under the new title Nor'easter.  Hmmm.  Well, I don't know if this will ultimately be the title at time of release, but the site also lists that filming is set to start on May 22 in New York, which seems to fit previous info regarding a late May shooting schedule.

I'm not so sure about that title.  The definition of "nor'easter" is 'a a storm or wind blowing from the northeast, especially in New England.'  Seems more like a new title for The Good House than The Post.  I suppose the idea of a storm brewing would be an appropriate usage in regard to the Pentagon Papers, but that title doesn't really give us any indication of what the film is about.  I'm curious to see if it sticks.

If May 22 is the true start date, casting info should be revealed very soon.

  1. Jeff, you're right. For a non-US citizen especially, I'm clueless about the plot based on this new title. The Pentagon Papers would be better in my opinion. David

    1. Seconded. Never heard of this term before. Hopefully just a working title. In a month's time we hopefully get some pictures to see what she looks like in character! Just think, a few weeks ago 2017 looked sparse - now we have an exciting prospect just 3 weeks away!

  2. I can already see a dummy title in Portugal like "The Nor-east Storm" (A Tempestade do Nordeste) or the Nor-east Hurricane (O Furacão do Nordeste), which doesn't fit the content of the movie at all...

    2. Amusing to think what Meryl' s film titles translate to. Jeff the Best Pic snub question didn't really take off, me May need another thread for it..

    3. Charlie, if I make a poll, which five films would you chose of films that were snubbed for Best Picture? I'm thinking Adaptation, Doubt, maybe Sophie's Choice? I took a quick look back at her filmography and there actually weren't many that I thought "yeah that was totally snubbed," but you may suggest others I hadn't really thought. A poll of Meryl's snubbed roles will definitely happen. I know I have a section on that, but would like others' thoughts too.

  3. Yes definitely Adaptation, Doubt, A cry in the Dark possibly? It did very well at Cannes and has one of Meryl's highest RT scores.

Hmm I agree with you, there aren't really that many movies that feel like glaring omissions. Silkwood got very good reviews and was nominated for a Golden Globe. I'd contend that August: Osage County should have made the cut, I felt the reviews for that were quite unfair. It should definitely have made it in the expanded category.

The Bridges of Madison County potentially? It got stellar reviews, made a lot of money plus Clint Eastwood was coming off the big Academy success of Unforgiven.

I read an article years ago where a pundit claimed The Devil wears Prada could have been close to a nomination for Best Picture. I'm not sure how true that is but it certainly did better than expected! Fingers crossed this movie gets excellent reviews and does well.
