It did very well at Cannes and has one of Meryl's highest RT scores.

Hmm I agree with you, there aren't really that many movies that feel like glaring omissions. Silkwood got very good reviews and was nominated for a Golden Globe. I'd contend that August: Osage County should have made the cut, I felt the reviews for that were quite unfair. It should definitely have made it in the expanded category.

The Bridges of Madison County potentially? It got stellar reviews, made a lot of money plus Clint Eastwood was coming off the big Academy success of Unforgiven.

I read an article years ago where a pundit claimed The Devil wears Prada could have been close to a nomination for Best Picture. I'm not sure how true that is but it certainly did better than expected! Fingers crossed this movie gets excellent reviews and does well.
CJameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12937312863597687063noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3751049975001656578.post-58411595616909838612017-05-05T13:41:16.693-05:002017-05-05T13:41:16.693-05:00Charlie, if I make a poll, which five films would ...Charlie, if I make a poll, which five films would you chose of films that were snubbed for Best Picture? I'm thinking Adaptation, Doubt, maybe Sophie's Choice? I took a quick look back at her filmography and there actually weren't many that I thought "yeah that was totally snubbed," but you may suggest others I hadn't really thought. A poll of Meryl's snubbed roles will definitely happen. I know I have a section on that, but would like others' thoughts too.
