Another Sondheim musical in the works for Streep & Marshall?

Broadway World is reporting that director Rob Marshall is hoping to acquire the rights to the Stephen Sondheim musical Follies, and wants Meryl for one of the female leads.  Considering Marshall doesn't even have the rights to the film yet, this is probably a long way off, but still an interesting prospect.  Maybe another chance to team with Glenn Close?

So much for that break you were hoping for, huh Meryl?  More news of this is sure to develop in the coming days.

  1. IMDB has a listing for Follies written by Aaron Sorkin????? Guess it was a project that died a couple years ago but I guess a movie script is floating around....?

    1. Yeah, I'm guessing he's moved on from that. We'll see if Marshall ends up getting to do it. The success of Into the Woods may give him a green light. And then if Meryl wants to do it too...soonest I could possibly see this filming is second half of 2016.

  3. I love hearing new projects for Meryl, always exciting. These Oscars are shaping up to be incredibly boring if The Critics choice awards are anything to go by.. let's hope SAG mixes things up a little
