Meryl spotted on the set of "The Laundromat"

Filming is underway in California for Steven Soderbergh's Panama Papers drama The Laundromat and Meryl was spotted on set:

It's sort of a goofy photo of her as it looks like she was caught mid-expression. This pic certainly confirms that Meryl is not portraying slain journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, but likely one of the individuals negatively affected when they run into trouble with insurance claims following a boat tragedy. Meryl's character has previously been described as the "emotional through-line" of the movie.

Looking forward to 2019!

  1. Hi Jeff!

According to what has been recently said in the news, Meryl is filming The Laundromat and Little Women simultaneously, which seems in quite uncommon in her career, don't you agree?

    1. Yes, Hugo. It appears she's shooting both at the same time, and it would be rare for her. I think it's also possible, however, that her parts are so small in each (probably more small in Little Women from what I can gather) that she's already wrapped on the first one and is onto the second.

  2. Thanks, Jeff! looking forward to see what comes next! I hope e have news soon on The Nix or Nyad, but I would very much prefer to be surprised with a really unexpected Scorsese, Tarantino, Dolan or Almodovar collaboration!

    1. Yeah Nyad would really be something else. Did you see this info on a possible project with Scorsese? http://www.wordonthestreep.com/2018/10/streep-in-secret-netflix-movie-directed.html

  3. I remember she shot Manhattan and Kramer vs Kramer at the same time.

Great to see her still busy.

    1. Do you recall the interview Jeff? She was remarking that Woody Allen wouldn't let her change as much as a punctuation pause in her delivery as she told him she was having an entirely different experience on the other movie she was filming concurrently (Kramer) where they let her write her own lines!

    2. I certainly do. "You know, there's a comma there. And you should probably pause there because, well, there's a comma there."
