Yesterday, there were also a few new movie posters revealed for Suffragette, which include stars Helena Bonham, Carey Mulligan and of course, our girl. I think they look great. Can't wait for this pic as well. It's getting a fair amount of buzz around the film blogs I've been perusing so I hope it lives up to the hype. We can expect Suffragette to hit cinemas in the U.S. in late October.
The performance I would never question apart from those dreadful people who seem to delight in saying Meryl overacts. I'm sure in this film she will get raves comparable to Devil wears Prada. I just hope we aren't faced with an altogether familiar situation of the film meeting less praise than our star..
ReplyDeleteAgreed. It's been said a thousand times, but I'm hoping the trailer is more commercial and light than the entire film. Only about three more weeks!
DeleteI just wish it was a weaker year in the Best Actress race. People will probably make a big deal about Meryl missing an Oscar nom this year when on the surface she seems to have two films in contention (But alas her role in Suffragette will prove too small and Ricki I fear too commercial). It sucks because in a weaker year I feel she could get in for this performance (which will probably be amazing) even though the film doesn't look great. All of the other best actress roles seem baitier and in Oscar thirsty films. I just hope Florence isn't too light for Oscar consideration because I can see Meryl blowing that role out of the water.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it's a full year of anticipated roles for actresses, but I know what you mean. It's been while since Meryl has been in an indisputable lead role and I'm looking forward to when she gets raves as she did for The Iron Lady, and then those raves matching up with a film that gets great reviews.
