Streep profiled on Popcorn Talk

I had never heard of "Profiles with Malone & Mantz" before seeing a link on the Meryl Streep forum, but yesterday they covered miss Meryl.

It was great to hear from directors David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada and Hope Springs) and Rob Marshall (Into the Woods).  Frankel makes mention of something I've also assumed, that Meryl would not be interested in doing a sequel.  As Frankel puts it "she doesn't like to repeat herself."  It gives credence to the idea that Revenge Wears Prada will never happen.

I was a bit surprised that Doubt made their top five, but that film is also one of my favorites, so I certainly wasn't disappointed.  Makes me want to watch a bunch of Meryl movies...like more than usual.

  1. There were a few errors here and there but on the whole very interesting! I would love Meryl to write or authorise a biography at some point. Even the few stories we have heard from her over the year were so interesting. I'd love to know her opinion of her work, which awards she was most disappointed losing, etc etc....

    1. Agreed on the errors. And what's with the guy always pronouncing her name "muhryl"? I want to write her biography. If only to talk to her about work and the period of the early 90's and what she'd think about my reimagined history.

  2. You would be incredible at it Jeff. I hope Meryl wouldn't be offended by the revised filmography - some people don't like to consider what might have been. Hopefully she would be fascinated by your choices.

Anyway, I see so many biographies of people much less accomplished than Meryl and very few on her, it seems weird

    1. I can't imagine she'd actually be offended, but I suppose she'd disagree about some of my suggestions/choices, or simply not care at all. The fun part would be finding out what really drew her to those characters/parts. There will have to be a definitive, authorized biography at some point.

    2. I always wanted to know which films she regrets and which she almost said no to.
