Teaser released for "The Devil Wears Prada 2"

A teaser trailer was released today for The Devil Wears Prada 2:

Not a lot to it, other than footage of Meryl's shoes to the opening of Madonna's "Vogue" in the background, which leans heavily on nostalgia as it featured in the first movie.

I honestly thought the "took you look enough" was kind of corny. It almost seemed like this was just a spot for TV and not actual footage from the film. Is it? Maybe I'm dumb and it's supposed to be but it just seemed too put on. I imagine we'll have to have some of that in order to pay homage and give fans what they want is certain throwbacks from the original. No doubt Meryl and Anne looked amazing regardless. Excited for the full trailer.

Sounds like this will be playing before showings of Wicked when it comes out next weekend. That'll get a lot of eyeballs on this teaser. Hard to imagine Prada 2 isn't going to open to absolutely massive numbers. Get that bank, Meryl. And with it, get offers for more projects!

The film opens in theaters May 1.

  1. With most trailers giving everything away, this is refreshing! Also think it’s footage shot for promo not the actual film! That’ll come in the full trailer early next year.

  2. Definitely shot for promo. On the nose, recalling Prada 1 to a T. Meryl is too smart for that.

  3. What curious comments! The teaser is like an ice cream in the winter. I loved it. And Meryl in the lift is gorgeous .

  4. Ok I'm glad I'm just a bonehead who thought this might have been actual footage of the film. That exaggerated hand on the hip and the shot/line deliveries made me worried for the film. Knowing it's just a promo makes it seem like the perfect literal "teaser." I think I'm just so hungry to get some sense of what the character is going to be like that I just assumed they'd show a little bit of actual footage! The fully trailer will be that much more enticing.

  5. I hope they market it like Barbenheimer. Meryl's stock always rises with a box office hit and that would really help with her smaller films. Nowadays smaller movies go straight to streaming but I hope her films release in theaters first!

  6. I just hope this is not the actual footage because she's like a caricature of the Miranda in the first film as if she has forgotten how to act!! The brief line reading is also awful. Someone here said it's not the actual footage so I hope he/she is right.

    1. You jealous. She is great and the teaser is extra smart.

    2. Is this the pyscho commenter again? I'm a huge Meryl fan so how can I be jealous? I'm saying what some fans have also observed and concurred. Geez.

  7. Didn’t like this teaser. Streep looks like a Disney character. Very cartoonish. The teaser has 185m views. Movie is going to be massive. Let’s hope Streep delivers but not looking good.

    1. You have to remember that that elevator scene is not from the actual movie. It was filmed just as a sort of tongue-in-cheek spot for TV/the trailer.

    1. I could be wrong, and I had the same concerns that you did, but all the comments I have read on social media and blogs seem to have formed a consensus that the scene in the elevator looked like footage filmed specifically for the teaser.

  10. I felt the same way about the teaser — definitely more of a nostalgia wink than anything substantial, but it still did its job getting everyone talking. Seeing those iconic shoes and hearing “Vogue” again was enough to spark the excitement. Can’t wait for the full trailer and to see what Meryl and Anne really bring this time around!
