Filming for "Babylon" set for July

There was a tweet posted recently that Damien Chazelle's upcoming film Babylon will be filming in the Santa Clarita Valley in California in July:

I post this because we still have no confirmation of whether or not Meryl will be part of the cast. Her name was floated over a year ago, but nothing has been updated since. Considering filming is supposed to commence within the next few weeks, even if Streep is not in fact going to be in the cast, I expect there should be some news on who will be playing Elinor Glyn (unless for some reason they've cut the role, which I doubt).

Streep is also set to film Places, Please this summer, and there was also a rumor of her joining Joaquin Phoenix in an Ari Aster film. To be honest, I'll be surprised if she ends up in even two of these projects, much less all three. But one can hope!

  1. Having heard no official confirmation of news regarding any of the projects, I am not sure any of them are happening this summer (if ever!) Places, Please does not even have a distributor according to my latest search...a Nix situation all over again I fear. (PS still want Meryl to revisit that project but dreams die hard!)

    1. I actually thought about The Nix the other day. I doubt it'll ever happen at this point. It would seem like it was written in response to Trump's presidency, not before.

How sad would it be if she didn't even do ONE movie this year?!

    1. I don't see how this is clear news of Meryl not participating. The role she would've been playing is for someone over age 60. None of these actors fit this, neither do they state which characters they're playing. I still think it's unlikely at this point that Meryl's in it, but either the role of Elinor Glyn has been cut or changed significantly from the version of the script I read, or her casting has yet to be revealed.
