Promising first reviews for "Let Them All Talk"

My cup runneth over with Meryl having two films being released to streaming services next week! Numbers are dropping just a tad for The Prom, but first reviews for Steven Soderbergh's Let Them All Talk look very good.

With ten reviews in on Metacritic, the film sits at 72, indicating "generally favorable reviews." Over on Rotten Tomatoes, while there aren't a lot more reviews there (thirteen), it's at 100%!

Meryl's again getting good ink here, but it's a more subdued performance. More of the commentary is on Soderbergh's cinematography and the supporting performance by Candice Bergen. There's even a little Oscar buzz going around now for Bergin. While early December would normally be far too late to expect somebody to join the race, this is a special year. Globe and SAG nods won't even be announced until late February.

So excited to watch both films next week!

  1. Streep's performance since to be one that critic's rally around. They are over her accents and big scenes and seem to find joy in her nuanced layered performance here. I think she and Bergen and the screenplay could be in Oscar contention. If so, The Prom will help her with the lead nomination OR they would push Prom to supporting. I doubt Streep misses out on an Oscar nomination when she has two Oscar caliber roles. By the way, I saw The Prom last night in my Salt Lake City movie theater. It is so fun and she is great! I mean, we knew she could sing, but she is an incredible singer in this.

    2. I love your enthusiasm but I would be shocked if Streep garnered an Oscar nom for either of these films. Golden Globe nod most likely for The Prom and maybe even double nom with LTAT.

I listened to Meryl's "It's Not About Me" today on Spotify and it is vocally AMAZING.

    3. Stunning! I burst out laughing at "The Post once said I was too old to play Eva Peron!"

  2. I'm putting down my wager now. Steep gets Oscar nominated for Lead for Let Them All Talk and Bergen gets in Supporting Actress, and original screenplay. The will honor Streep for two great performances with the one nomination.
