I gotta be honest, guys. I don't care all that much about Meryl being involved in Greta Gerwig's upcoming Chronicles of Narnia movie(s) for Netflix. Meryl's voice work is wonderful, but it's not all that exciting to me. Alas, it appears to be the only 'close-to' confirmation of anything she's apparently attached to doing, so I figured I should comment on bigger updates for the production. And it at least shows that she's still interested in still working, to some degree.
With that in mind, multiple sources are reporting that Emma Mackey (Sex Education, Emily, Barbie) is rumored to have landed the role as the White Witch. Margaret Qualley was mentioned as vying for the role as well. From the article:
If the voice work in Narnia comes out in 2026 along with Devil Wears Prada 2 on the big screen and The Corrections streaming than I think it could be a great year altogether?- Jamie
ReplyDeleteI agree it would potentially be a huge year! I'm just sort of losing confidence in either DWP2 or Corrections happening.
DeleteAmen!
DeleteIf you'd watched Jimmy Kimmel, you would have seen the interview with the producer of OMITB. He hinted he wants Meryl back in S5 so I wouldn't be surprised if she returns.
ReplyDeleteWell of course they want her back. She'll probably at least have a cameo (yawn), but at this stage I feel it's unlikely that Loretta will have anything interesting to do as a character. I'm totally fine with Meryl moving on from that show.
DeleteLoretta could still be involved in investigating in some capacity...
DeleteDo you mean Dav'ine? She's not a producer she plays the detective, and hinted at Meryl being back and possibly having scenes with her. Also, in an article where the creator of the show is interviewed, he mentioned that Meryl agrees Loretta is now a part of the show.
DeleteJimmy hasn't interviewed a producer of the show
DeleteShe mentioned the scene where she arrests Loretta so I'm confused how you concluded she's a producer?
DeleteHi Jeff. Unbelievable that I’ve only come across your blog now. My name is Pepe and I’m from Spain. I’ve been a Meryl fan forever, and I had a chance to finally see her (and interact with her!) at the Princess of Asturias Awards. Would love to share my story with you, hard to find people as passionate about Meryl’s work as us. I’d love to connect - is there an Instagram profile I can DM?
ReplyDeleteHi Pepe! Welcome to the blog and thanks for reading! Super cool that you got to interact with Meryl! Yes, I'd love to hear about it. You can DM me on Instagram: @jeffwie_miller
DeleteBy the way. I was at this event and I was sure Meryl had hinted at a future project. Minute 28:50. She’s clearly on the lookout for interesting roles! https://youtu.be/K7QAafXzO9U?si=nct33wdruev5CbZU
ReplyDeleteOoo, that does seem like she was about to comment on something she was perhaps recently involved with that may be struggling to secure funding. And yes, I totally agree that she is likely still interested in finding and playing interesting roles. I don't believe that desire goes away. Only the opportunity to carry it out.
DeleteHi Jeff, I'm Gianluca and I've been following your blog for a long time. I love Meryl and I think she is the best living actress.
ReplyDeleteI collect magazines with her on cover.
I don't understand why important directors don't work with her!!!
Welcome, Gianluca and thanks for reading! I agree I wish Meryl had the chance to work with some more top-notch directors, but then I remind myself that the scripts have to be there. Most of these directors don't write their own screenplays, and there just aren't nearly as many stories centering on women over 70. But it certainly would be amazing if she got the chance to do something with Pedro Almodovor, for example.
DeleteScorsese only works with DiCaprio and De Niro: isn't there a worthy female character for Meryl?
ReplyDeleteMike Nichols respected her and understood her greatness
Scorsese's female roles are notably few and far between.
DeleteMeryl Streep on set for OMITB Season 5
ReplyDeleteyawn
DeleteHello Jeff! Congratulations for your blog! I also love and admire Meryl. 🥰. I am so happy that we have this chance to be contemporary with her. Some of my friends say that I look a bit like her so maybe one day my dream comes true and I would meet her to give her a biiiig hug so that she could feel my love! I've sent an email to Kevin Huvane but I don't think that he will answer in this life....
ReplyDeleteUntil then I hope we are going to enjoy some new movie projects with her and especially TDWP2!.
Hello and welcome to the blog! Thanks so much for reading!
